You cannot retrive the save, you would probably be better off using an older version and making the world or making it on your current version but backing up regularly.

Can you attach video/image files to show this?

The chest not appearing is a known bug

It's meant to sit on the bell, it's a block

I fixed it by resetting  my gamma

Confirmed because it's always been like this and is probably a feature

They never have. This is not a bug
