I've just create a world in creative mode, and smelting iron gave me iron bar (as expected). I've used MCPE 0.15.90.2, no mods and default texture.

Still affects 0.16.0 Beta (0.15.90.2).

I can not help you anymore. I updated my Tablet from Android 2.3.3 to 4.1. The bug was happening in the old version of Android, but after I updated, the bug does not happen anymore.

The bug still happens in version 0.13.0. But recently I did the upgrade from Android 2.3.3 to Android 4.1.2 and the bug no longer occurs.
