REALMS-1790 "Replace Realm" hangs indefinitely at 100% on xbox Duplicate MCPE-45796 Nether to Overworld ratio incorrect for non-Large sized imported Console worlds Won't Fix

Comments

My Bugged-Out-Console-World-Friends; I bring the happiest of news. I was able to 'fix' the problem of the incorrect "3 instead of 8" Nether/Overworld ratio!!!

I'm playing my old Minecraft world right now on Xbox One (survival mode), and achievements are enabled, and everything works great, and my Nether-to-Overworld ratio is actually finally 1-to-8!!!

All that is required is to edit the savegame file "level.dat" file (in binary mode) so that the byte right after "NetherScale" is an '8' instead of a '3' (again, you must edit the file in binary).

If this doesn't sound like something you can do yourself, fear not fellow Console World refugee's, if you contact me through this site, then I'll help you upload your savegame to my realm (doesn't matter which platform you are on), I'll make the change/fix for you, and then you can download your savegame after I fix it for you (don't worry, won't cost you a penny! 🙂)

Rejoice fellow "3 instead of 8 ratio" Console friends, we can finally join the rest of the world with a properly scaled Nether! 😃

Hello;

With all due respect, the existing Nether Portals connections are supposed to be broken when upgrading to a larger world, and this is indeed how it was handled in the past.

I just re-verified this myself by creating a 'Small' world with nether portals, upgrading it to 'Large'. The existing Nether Portals connections were severed, and new Nether Portals were created at the correct 8:1 proportion, as expected with 'Large' (or 'Infinite') world.

You said the reason my reported bug wouldn't be fixed is because "any existing Nether Portals would not match up and work correctly.", but as I've stated, this is exactly what happen(s) (and happened) when you would upgrade worlds from 'Small' to 'Large' in console editions.

There's no way old users could know that we needed to go 'Small' -> 'Large' -> 'Bedrock' in order to get the correct 8:1 Nether ratio. But going from 'Small' -> 'Bedrock' left us stuck at 3:1. Now we're stuck on Bedrock with no way to get away from our incorrect and non-standard 3:1 ratios. If we wanted the old ratios, we would be still be playing on console edition, but we consciously made the choice to move to Bedrock, knowing our old structures might change with the new rules (eg. 8:1 Nether ratio).

Please reconsider fixing this bug, with the new knowledge that 'Small' to 'Large' upgrades actually do break existing Nether Portals (I encourage you to try this for yourself to see).

Just tried it with the new 1.14.1 release that came out today, still crashing.

I found a workaround awhile back for this. I forget the precise details, but the problem was related to having a resource pack enabled on the world in question. Once I turned this off, the upload could complete. I am not aware if this is still a problem since I just continue to use the workaround.

Bumping after the announcement of the Nether update. Please fix this, I swear it should be like a one-line-of-code fix. I don't want to get to the Nether update down the road, and still be stuck at a 3:1 nether ratio, I want to get around my Overworld at 8:1 like everyone else! :'(
