Ran out of already-crafted bricks today, and was very surprised when I couldn't craft new ones!

Umm... i'm pretty sure they stated clearly in the 16w20a snapshot that "Removed Crafting recipe for endstone bricks" go look at [EDIT].
EDIT: actually it's said here http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/1.10#Blocks_2
And if you really think about it, it's a incentive to go and look for the end city's, and makes the block more valuable. So if you play on servers you better head back to your 1.9 servers and craft as much as you can before you cant anymore.

@unknown, Wiki says what changed, but it doesn't say what Mojang intended to change. Official information about changes in MC can be seen on mojang.com, and there is nothing about it.

You obviously didn't read the whole comment.

If they would have forgotten the crafting output, then it wouldn't even yield 16 (instead of the former 64) endstone bricks.. or am I now completely confused.

The developers could have possibly forgot that 4 end stone returned 4 end bricks. From the comment, Jeb forgot slime blocks even gave 9 slime balls back. Probably not a great example but it happens. Putting that all to side, I guess we'll have to wait to see what happens.

We shouldn't metatalk and assume things so much, the mod said the Devs are aware, so they'll decide what to do before release I'd suppose }=)
In any case, you got a point - he could as well just simply copied the Magmablock recipe and overlooked that 4 (magma slimeballs) give (only) 1 (magmablock), and only replaced the names, but not the amount..
</metatalk>

End stone --> End bricks crafting recipe ratio is fixed in release 1.10 🙂
