The Bug:
When a player dies in a server environment, their potion effects, particles, and fire animations will persist and not disappear. Please note that this is a client-side issue and cannot be seen by other players.
Steps to Reproduce:
Join a multiplayer server or a LAN world.
Give yourself the glowing effect.
/effect give @s minecraft:glowing 100 0
Die through any cause, respawn, and switch into third person.
Take note as to whether or not potion effects, particles, and fire animations persist client-side after death in server environments.
Observed Behavior:
Effects, particles, and fire animations continue client-side after death in server environments.
Expected Behavior:
All effects, particles, and animations would disappear and would not persist after death.

Strictly vanilla, downloaded (the snapshot: 16w41a) from the Mojang website. Otherwise I wouldn't have made the bugreport 😉
Is this still an issue in the most recent versions (currently that is 1.12.2, or the latest 1.13 development snapshot 18w07c) of Minecraft?
Unfortunately yes, here is a screenshot when I tried this out with another player on 1.12.2. They killed themselves in a lava pool behind me, respawned and this is the result. It's hard to spot but you can even see some blue particles retain, those are a left over from me giving the player the night vision effect. As mentioned in the original description: on my console the player looks absolutely normal.
I can't test this on 18w07c because for some reason my client crashes the very moment I try to log on to the server, and I haven't had time to look further into that.
I'd like to request ownership of this ticket since the current reporter has been inactive since August of 2018.
Is this a vanilla server or does it have mods/plugins?
