Fullscreen doesn't fill screen on External Monitor when laptop is closed

The bug

The Fullscreen function (as enabled by F11 or by accessing the Graphics menu button) fills only part of an external monitor at the top left.

It appears (though unconfirmed) to be filling a section equal in pixel size to the integrated screen of the laptop (which in my case is 1366x768), which is closed when the bug occurs, but still running off of the external monitor only.

When I open my laptop, the issue resolves itself.

How to reproduce

  1. Change settings on a laptop running Windows 10 control panel to "Do nothing" in "Choose what happens when I close the lid" section

  2. Connect laptop to external monitor of a larger size than the integrated screen

  3. Start Minecraft 1.11 with the lid closed and an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor connected

  4. Change to Fullscreen mode (using F11 or Graphics menu) if not already enabled.

Issue appears to affect other OSes as well.

Confirmed in 1.12 on a laptop running elementary OS 0.4 (Loki) with kernel 4.4.0-64-generic and an nvidia gt650m running on nvidia 367.57 drivers- attached a screenshot.

EDIT: In my setup, the laptop display does not have to be off or disabled. It seems you just have to enter fullscreen while on the higher resolution display after starting Minecraft on the lower resolution (laptop) display.

This issue is still present in the latest snapshot, 18w01a. I can send another screenshot if needed. One thing changed – the mouse is no longer restricted to the area covered by the Minecraft program in its fullscreen mode, but it still covers only about 80% of the screen in width and length (so, linear scale). I also changed the kind of cord I use to connect to an HDMI cable, no change. I use a Full HD 1920x1080 monitor, in fact I have the same issue with my TV (also FHD).

I found a temporary fix! It seems that the Windows 10 DPI (text/image size) setting on my computer was innately changed to the recommended 100% (no scaling) when connected to my external display. By changing this value to 125% on Windows 10 Settings, which is the value I have set for my internal display, the issue was resolved. Please let the development team know about this connection – plus, I know this native Windows setting should be available to accommodate for directly with OpenGL and the Java SDK (JDK) by now, as it was added almost 2 years ago to the Windows 10 preview builds, and the availability of the setting has persisted in Windows 10 since the official release.

Is this still a issue in the latest version of the game(currently 1.13.1)?

If so, please add it to the affected versions, thanks!

With the addition of the fullscreen resolution slider, this issue seems to be fully resolved. I further deciphered this issue for the affected versions already listed, and found that the issue occurred with common "Full HD" screen resolutions beginning with 1920x1080. The slider has alleviated this issue completely.

Still an issue. win 10 1809. MC Java 1.13.2.
Resolution slider does not solve this.

I have a similar issue with the now latest version (Java 1.15.1 Windows 10). I have my laptop connected to a TV via hdmi, with the screen closed. The game will not go to true fullscreen, only windowed fullscreen. The fullscreen resolution setting says unavailable, and the slider does not work, though previous comments stated otherwise. The toggle fullscreen button only toggles to windowed fullscreen, instead of true fullscreen. I've tried playing with the screen open, but that doesn't do a thing to the game. Is there a permanent fix for this? I despise windowed fullscreen. It is very annoying.

Thanks,

JAG
