Mob type specific damage enchantment (Smite, Bane of Arthropods) affects all nearby entities when hitting affected mob with Sweeping Edge

The bug

Hitting a mob which is affected by a mob type specific damage enchantment, such as Smite or Bane of Arthropods, with an item enchanted with Sweeping Edge affects nearby entities which should not be affected by the mob type specific enchantment.

For example hitting an undead mob with an item enchanted with Smite and Sweeping Edge deals Smite damage to nearby non-undead mobs as well.

How to reproduce

  1. Give yourself a sword with Smite and Sweeping Edge

    /give @p minecraft:wooden_sword{Unbreakable:1,Enchantments:[{id:smite,lvl:32767},{id:sweeping,lvl:3}]}
  2. Spawn some cows

  3. Hit one of them
    → ✔ No cow dies as expected

  4. Spawn some more cows and spawn an undead mob like a husk next to them

  5. Hit the husk
    → ❌ The cows die

lol, thought it was awfully effective. Particularly noticeable with witches.

Might need to check Bane of Anthropods as well.

Does affect Bane of Arthropods as well.

Affects 1.16 Release Candidate 1

Seems to affect 1.20.5 release candidate 2. I would like to request ownership if possible, due to the reporter being inactive since 2017 and is no longer updating the report.
