[MC-118543] 'The City at the End of the Game' advancement isn't granted

The bug

While every other advancement that I have tried works so far, I can't get the "The City at the End of the Game" advancement to trigger. I've entered two end cities so far, including one with a pier and a ship. I've even received the "Taking Flight" advancement.

hmmm... Is there any particular point that it is suppose to trigger at? I'll go try a new starting a new world.

While I didn't explicitly mention it, and I probably should have, this occurred while playing on a server. The server itself is vanilla, freshly downloaded from the minecraft site. I'm running it locally on Java 1.8v131. The world itself, however, is one we've been working on for several years now. We did reset the end, however, back around the time the End Cities were introduced.

Update: I still can't trigger that specific advancement on the server, but I can trigger it in singleplayer.

I just created a new world in sp, and with judicious use of creative mode reached the end, killed the dragon, and found a pair of cities. The advancement triggered immediately when I approached the door. (I don't think I'd actually entered, but was in the block adjacent to the entrance)

I can confirm this bug on a multiplayer server. The End city in question is correctly saved in the data/EndCity.dat file, and I am standing in it but not receiving the advancement.

I generated some new terrain in the same End and received the advancement upon entering a newly generated End city.

Same for me – appears to work with new end cities but not old ones. I was able to get the nether fortress advancement with an old fortress.

Got the same issue on a world created on 1.12 in Singleplayer. Entered 3 end cities and one with ship and didn't get the advancement. Playing on osx.

Managed to get the advancement in another world with the same setup.

I am also experiencing this issue in Single Player in release 1.12 on Linux 4.9.16 using 64 bit OpenJDK 1.8.0_121 (IcedTea 3.3.0). I have entered one End City without a ship that would have generated before I got 'The End... Again...' and another with a ship that would not have been generated yet but, not got the advancement. The world was generated in 1.12. I can provide more info if necessary. Full output of java -version:

openjdk version "1.8.0_121"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 3.3.0) (Gentoo icedtea-3.3.0)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.121-b13, mixed mode)

Edit: I eventually got the achievement when I went into another End City recently, a couple of months later. It is possible that the one I entered that gave me the achievement had generated first, depending on where it falls in regions. It was through a different End Island Portal that I hadn't began exploring yet, so it may be to do with one being generated, you going through a portal back to the central End island, going through another, and then not being able to get it?

This happened to me as well, I found an End City, End Ship and even an Elytra, cleared all shulkers in the area and placed/broken blocks etc, all brand new in 1.12.2 in my SSP world, and I got the elytra advancement, but not the End City one. Eventhough it is its parent. I have defeated the Ender Dragon only once since 1.12.

My setup is Windows XP sp3 in 32bit, Java build 1.8.0_141-b15, but I don't think that is relevant.

Oddly, the same version, different environments. I was able to finish this advancement on my 32 bit laptop computer, but I don't know whether it's a Generating errors or an environmental problem.

Bug MC-125615 "Some end cities don't generate completely", might be related to this issue. When I confirmed my case above, I had noticed the End City in question was actually only partially generated. As by this comment, maybe the generator freezes at some point during generation of the structure, which could interfere with the trigger for this advancement. Wild guess.

@unknown, this ticket is for 1.12.2 and older but MC-125615 was for the 1.13 snapshot, so I don't see a relation.

I am running into this on 1.13 pre 6 on Windows 64 bit. I generated the overworld of this map in pre-3 but did not go to the End until pre-6. Have defeated the Ender-Dragon 2x and found 2 end cities. One had a ship, one did not. Neither granted the achievement.

i have this bug. windows 10 64-bit. i'm in java edition 1.13.2. I created my world in 1.12. i didn't do much in my world in 1.12. since moving to 1.13.2, i also had the bug where the diamond hoe advancement wouldn't pop, but i was able to get that by downloading a zip file provided on the bug tracking page and copying it to the correct folder and then loading my world and using a diamond hoe to completion. i did not go to the end on this world until after i updated the world to 1.13.2. i've just found my first end city and i was able to get the shulker levitation advancement, but no this advancement.

*UPDATE* after leaving the end and logging and going back to the end, the first end city i found (third in total) triggered the advancement... still not endship tho 😞

I have encountered the same problem in 1.13.2, world created in 1.13.2.

Visited two end cities so far, advancement does no trigger

Will try to leave end, log out and then get back to end as someone else proposed in this thread

It might have to do with https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-129491 , maybe?

TL; DR
According to the comments there (and my own testing in 1.14.1) it seems like that the "location" trigger only detects "features" (stronghold, end cities, shipwrecks etc.) around y 90 for some reason.

So after some digging, it does not seem to be instance of MC-129491: structure data is generated correctly.

So far I had no luck reproducing this one. Anyone has seed and coordinates that reproduce it somewhere between 1.12 and latest version?

I've got this, too. World is on 13.2, may have been generated in 13, 13.1 or 13.2.

Seed is 9139032129931163236.

I usually play single player, but sometimes open to LAN. May have been opened to LAN when I entered the End first time.

Did find city with ship and elytra. Got elytra advancement but not end city advancement.

Hello again!

I found and entered a 2nd End City (-1200, 142, 2400) but still wasn't granted the advancement. I deleted all recent files (timestamp = today) from .minecraft\saves\1_13 World\DIM1\region.

When logging in again I was instantly granted the advanvement, as I was still standing inside the city.

WARNING: this resets changes to the end dimension. Don't do it if you've got buildings in the end you wish to keep.
