Actual swimming happens when the player sprints under water. Old swimming behavior is used when not sprinting.

Look at the screenshot, he's sneak-swrimming.

It also causes items to detach from the hand

Happens in 18w30b. Wouldn't mind it being "Won't fix", as no functionality would be lost if it remained in the game.

Affects 18w31a.

Confirmed for 1.13.1.

Apparently this has been fixed in or at some point before 1.14.4.
