Grum replied about this issue today on Reddit
"No good fix for this, the water now blocks 1 light rather than 3."
Is it possible to tweak the light level required to turn these blocks into dirt to account for the new light blockage values? So instead of requiring the block to have X light level it would now require X+2 light level? Or would that cause other issues?
Is grass and mycelium not being able to grow to dirt at all the same as this report? If this is the case, it would be good to rename the report "Grass and Mycelium don't update when under air or water".
@Doubletoad74
Per the wiki:
"Grass will die and change to dirt after a random time if directly covered by an opaque block or water."
Grass does not turn to dirt when exposed to air under any light level. I assume the same goes for Mycelium. Currently both blocks do turn to dirt when directly covered by an opaque block, so this is only trying to address the water issue.
Sorry, I said that wrong. I meant that any dirt block wont turn to grass or mycelium when next to it (basically grass growing onto dirt, not grass growing to dirt). However I didn't know that dirt can't turn to grass or mycelium under any light level, which pretty much makes my original comment pointless since I tested it at night.
Paul Rozhkov & Isuru Kusumal Rajapakse your problem is a different report MC-192664 not this one
Is this maybe related to the bug for the grass spreading to underwater that was recently fixed (MC-128251)?
