When smelting items in furnaces, the fuel indicator usually slowly goes down until there is no fuel remaining and the furnace stops smelting. If you unload the chunk that the furnace is smelting in, the fuel will still slowly be used up, but this is not reflected on the fuel indicator.
Upon unloading the chunk, the indicator goes back to full and does not change from that state until the fuel runs out.

I can confirm that this is an issue in 1.17-pre1.
This is what causes MC-10025.
Cannot reproduce in 1.17.1. I can still reproduce MC-10025.
Got a similar, but different issue in 1.20.4 where the fuel indicator reset to the top, but went faster so that it would go down at the right time (at 2 items it was at the top, at 1 item it was in the middle, and at 0 the bottom)
Is anyone still able to reproduce this now that MC-10025 has been fixed?
