Pillager constantly firing into the ground with nothing to agro onto to

The bug

After a pillager was attacking a dog and the dog died, the pillager continued to constantly fire its crossbow at nothing, arrows appearing into the ground. It wouldn't stop, I was in creative mode at the time and there was nothing it was angry at. It just looked around like normal while firing. I expected the pillager would stop firing after the dog died.

How to reproduce

1. Spawn a few pillagers

   /summon minecraft:pillager

2. Summon a snow golem

   /summon minecraft:snow_golem

   → ✔ They both start to shoot at each other as expected

3. Wait until the snow golem dies
   → ❌ The pillagers keep shooting at the place the snow golem died
