The bug
I was playing with my brother and he'd die, and then he couldn't see me anymore as I played. This happened many times. I experienced it in 18w45a again after I died and tp'd to my brother. I was invisible to him. I died again, tp'd again during a pillager raid. This time, Though I was visible to him, Both the Villagers and Illagers nearby were invisible to me.

I also noticed that entities and mobs are invisible for a little while when I teleport to different areas in the world. For example, I used a boat to explore and then found a jungle and bamboo biome, so I sailed to shore, got off my boat, and did a F3+C to copy my jungle coordinates. I looked around until I found a panda, about 20 blocks away from my boat. Then I teleported back to my home (around 1500 blocks away, close to spawn) and threw some bamboo into a chest. Then, I teleported back to the jungle and noticed that my boat was missing! I walked to where I had it on shore, and I was able to collide with it as if it was visible. I also walked to where the panda was and it was missing too. So I walked back to my boat location and pushed it around while it was invisible, then it suddenly popped into view while I was pushing it. I looked over where the panda was, and I saw it where it was originally located.
So to reproduce the 'vanishing entities', go somewhere away from spawn, about 1000 blocks or so. Then, spawn a boat and some passive mobs, and press F3+C to copy your teleport coordinates. Teleport back to spawn and look around for a little while. Finally, teleport back to where you used F3+C, and the things you spawned in may be invisible.
EDIT - I tried the 'teleport to different areas' idea to test for invisible entities, and I had to teleport to the test areas several times before entities would start to go invisible. Also, when the boat is invisible, I can't climb into it, I can only collide with it. It's as if the server knows it's there but the client doesn't (I was playing a singleplayer game).

Confirmed for 18w45a happens in both singleplayer and multiplayer servers. Almost every time entities near where you died will be invisible after respawn. Relogging very rarely fixes it.

I'm also having trouble with my items becoming invisible after dying sometimes, but not always. 18w46a
The hitboxes also do not show up when F3 + B is active, I was just able to confirm

I just experienced this in 18w46a; I die and when I try to collect my gear I'm killed by an invisible vindicator. Neither is the gear that was dropped on death visible until I exit, launch and reload the savegame.

Whilst playing Normal SSP [Snapshot 18w47b], I noticed that nearby mobs and dropped player items turn invisible upon death. No shadows present. Items can be picked up as normal. Mobs make noises and attack as normal.
I thought this was an issue with dying near a spawn area, but it may be more related to the death site itself.
Initially, logging out of the game and logging back in can restore visibility, at the risk of the said mobs swarming you as you log in.
Continuing to play after death revealed the invisibility issue occurred closer to the site of death. Multiple deaths restored the visibility of some mobs while other mobs closer to the death site became invisible.
Possibly related; whilst playing on the same session and world, I dove down to a shipwreck. While opening a chest, it looked empty. I closed it and opened it again. The entities inside appeared as normal.

This is what I'm currently dealing with in my world while trying to test a custom boss battle.

I am playing 18W49A snapshot and have experienced the issue as well.

In 18w50a this also occurs on relogging to mobs and entities for several (seems to be somewhere between 1-20) seconds.

This was replicated in my single player in 18w50a world. I died from a skeleton early game and when retrieving my items died again from an invisible creeper. I then was playing with F3 + B for hit boxes. The jerk skeleton that initially killed me was now invisible and firing arrows at me, no hit boxes seen until the arrow was loosed upon me (arrow has hitbox). logged out and back in to resolve.

Good evening, I play the instant version 18w50a, and I just happened the same with a Bandit and a defender, they can solve this please, it becomes a nail with time, you do not know where they attack you, or how you You can save. there is no way to run even with the shield. Above the Bandits are fast, how do they want us to play with that?

I'm playing 18W50A and noticed this. I was killed several times by a pillager, each time I respawned, he was invisible. Earlier I was killed by several zombies, and respawned only to be hit again and killed without ever seeing them. Even earlier I respawned after being killed and my items were initially invisible.

item entities turn invisible upon death. I could still pick them up but I couldn't find/see them. They appeared to be coming out from under the ground but that might just be visual.

Upon respawn entities are invisible, including:
Minecarts
Item frames
Mobs
Armour Stands
paintings
dropped items
Dying and respawning a second time makes them visible again.

I am not sure if this is related but after my animals went invisible, I left the area and when I came back they were visible again and it seemed that their positions changed a bit. Some chickens moved through stone walls. Sheep were halfway through walls and I had at least one sitting dog suddenly suffocate in a wall. I had noticed that this dog was gradually moving into a corner over the last couple days.

I need this fixed too. I was building an underwater secret base out of obsidian, and I was testing where I respawn and all the paintings and armor stands were gone! Also this is still happening in 19w03b

I guess this is the topic I should comment in. When I die, the items I drop disappear. I can still pick them up if I walk over them, I just can't see them. They seem to reappear when logging out and back in. 19w03c.

Second for it still happening in 19w05a, in versions before 19w05a this only seemed to affect hostile mobs but it has also affected my sheep now.

for me it also affects villagers, but it seems kind of random.. in my case only one ennemy and all villagers diappeared as well as some of my items

I just found out that when exitting game horses ( i didnt see that with other mobs) disappeared
even if mounted. if mounted the game would show my character not mounting a horse but as i was experimenting with that bug i found they would re appear sometimes if i took distance by flying away.. i then came back to the world where my horse disappeared and switched to creative mode to fly away but Simply changing the gamemode made the horse reappear and make me mount it again as if nothing happened.

I've had it happen, so far, with villagers, iron golems, tame cats, illagers, llamas, horses, pigs and sheep. It results in the game being unplayable for a while until (if) they reappear. Just don't go killing them when they pop back up if they're villagers, not unless you want crap reputation.

Gave this a thorough test in a new world.
Spawned in a spruce forest with sheep, a bonus chest, and a lava pit nearby.
Jumped in the pit, the sheep and items inside the chest remained after respawning.
Flipped to Creative real quick [oddly, the music changed to a new track as I did so] and grabbed zombie villager eggs and spawned half a dozen before flipping back to Survival.
Death by zombie villager; all mobs and items in the chest remained.
Death by jumping into the pit after being chased by zombie villagers; same result.
Unintentional death by being knocked into the pit by zombie villagers; entities still remain.
Death by zombie villager for good measure; entities still remain.
I think it's safe to say this has finally been fixed!

Testing every time and I can no longer reproduce in 19w06a.
