Joining the world outside of the spawn chunks results in client side desync

The bug

When joining the world outside of the spawn chunks, it seems that the player is not tracked and results in the same client side desync as MC-92916.

The side effects, listed in MC-92916, include being stuck in bed, not being able to deploy elytra, lack of damage sounds, etc.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Teleport yourself outside of the spawn chunks

    /tp 10000 100 10000
  2. Leave the game and rejoin the world

Try any of the issues mentioned above.

  • Set the time to night, sleep in a bed, and attempt to leave it
    → Notice you are stuck

  • Try to fly with an elytra
→ Notice it does not deploy

  • Set yourself to survival mode and take damage
→ Notice there are no sounds

This seems to be caused by the game putting the player in the world before the chunk is loaded. As a side note, it is noticeably quicker to join the game while in the spawn chunks than it is to join outside them.

Issue can be reproduced during multiplayer.

Only the host is affected by this bug. Additional players can sleep and hear sounds normally.

  1. Minecraft: Java Edition

  2. MC-142224

i can't heart the sound of losing health (minecraft:entity.generic.hurt) for exampre, when i fall off and i take damage or when i underwater and i don't have air to breathe.

this is the description of another report but it was a duplicate of this one

Annoying bug. Easily reproduced in 19w02a in large biomes world using 20+ chunks render distance.

Travel to a village and try to sleep there, or travel to spawn point from said village and you will get stuck in bed. It is twice as annoying for players who play on hardcore exclusively.

One of easier solutions to avoid it is to change render distance. To update it. You can even set it to be 19 and then to 20 chunks again... and you will not get stuck in bed.

Changing the render distance did not work for me; still got stuck in bed.

The "stuck in bed" bug persists in 19w03a

THANK YOU TEAM!!!!!!

Confirm the bug still occurs though perhaps not as frequent.  I encountered the issue with beds again after going in and out of the nether.

My new 19w03c world was working fine (beds, etc) until I built a nether portal and entered. Upon return to the Overworld, I got stuck in my bed.

19w04a: I just got hit by a blaze fireball and didn't get any fire effect or damage sound, as described in MC-142346. This bug is not fixed or MC-142346 is not a duplicate of this bug.

@unknown: Your issue is MC-92916 then.
