Wolf remains wet (and does not shake) when teleporting

The bug

Wolves can remain wet, but do not shake when teleporting to their owner. This causes them to appear dark for no reason in areas without light (see MC-160324).

How to reproduce

  1. Move to a dark area, e.g. a cave

  2. Tame multiple wolves

  3. Place water at the wolves
    ✔ They turn dark

  4. Remove the water

  5. When some of the wolves start shaking teleport or move quickly away
❌ Some wolves remain dark after having teleported to you

Did the wolf touch water?

It might be that it is standing in the corner. I've seen other wolves behave like that before.

Asteatroth Theres water around my house, so maybe.

i think its gonna be the corner one. thank you.

Can confirm for 20w09a. Sometimes wolves wont shake off when exiting water, this mostly seems to happen when they're in water then teleport onto land when their owner gets too far away. Yours probably was placed in a dark room after not shaking off water and thus turned black.

Confirmed in 20w21a.

In 1.16 Pre 3

I'd be happy to become the reporter if needed

Might have been fixed in 1.16.2-pre3 (entity event is now broadcasted when wolves shake). Can someone still reproduce this?

Wolves only become slightly darker when in water now, but after teleporting a wet wolf, it will occasionally not shake anymore and remain darker than the other wolves

Was not able to reproduce myself in 1.20.1 after testing with the provided steps to reproduce. Am I missing something?

Here is my setup used to try and replicate this. The command block is teleporting me ~50 blocks away.
