MC-159395

Honey level of bee hives does not increase, as opposed to bee nests

The bug

The hive doesn't get the honey like the nest, stays at zero no matter how much bees work.

To reproduce

  1. Place some bee hives

  2. Spawn some bees

  3. Place some flowers

  4. Wait for the bees to work in the hive

  5. Wait for the bees to come out of the bee hive
→ ❌ The bees did not increase the honey level of the hive

I'm unable to reproduce this; however, I have discovered MC-159418 while testing this. That might be a factor.

I believe that there are some RNG elements in there as well, so maybe not every time a bee works in the hive the level is increased.

At least I have a hive that I know was level 0 and I haven't done anything about, and now it's at level 5.

Hmm, thinking about it, the hive I checked was a bee nest... maybe only bee nests can increase their level? Needs to be checked!

I should really read the ticket completely before judging. Whoops, my bad.

But I've tested a little bit more and that exactly appears to be the issue.

I have confirmed this issue on a server with several friends. @violine1101 may be right that the coordinates of the home hive aren't updating. We found several naturally spawned bees in survival and used flowers to guide them to our base (where we placed a beehive). We then destroyed the original naturally spawned bee nests just in case. Waited for a while and watched at least 5 bees enter/exit the hive with pollen and the honey level (as seen on the F3 debug menu) is still 0.

I also experienced this issue, but for me it only doesn't increase if I'm in a server, it works just fine in a single player world for me, and it also doesn't increase even if I'm using a bee nset

In that case, please create new ticket about that.

I'm having the same problem. I have several hives and bees have been using them. They've got flowers to harvest pollen from nearby. Even though they're using the hives, they don't fill up.

Confirmed in the latest snapshot 19w35a.

I can confirm this as well... I tested it in both survival and creative, on single-player worlds, LAN servers, and online servers. The bees themselves treat the beehive exactly the same way as a bee nest; the only difference is that the beehive honey_level stat doesn't change when the bee leaves the block.

Q Mark

it's back in java 1.15.1 Honey level in bee nest does not increase.
