Netherite cannot power beacons

Blocks of Netherite cannot be used as the base of a beacon, and Netherite Ingot cannot power a beacon. This seems inconsistent with ability to use iron, gold, emerald and diamond.

Should this be a feature though? I mean, it takes 36 gold to make 1 Netherite Block, with which you could have made 4 gold blocks instead. I guess some people might want to flex their wealth, but still.

Yeah, I think it should. It's like saying why can you use diamond when you can just use the much more abundant emerald/iron/gold. It's an asthetic thing as much as anything else, plus a logical thing since the lower forms of block can be used.

They never said that was a feature. so this sounds more like a feature suggestion. This site is for bug reports only.

It makes sense as beacons are crafted with nether stars dropped by withers.

It also makes sense as all the other progression system materials, from iron upwards, can be used.

Emeralds aren't a progression based item though, nor is gold (gold is a side ore that's not necessary to the progression). Both wood and stone are progression based materials, but they aren't used. It's actually based on metals and gems, which is what the logic for including netherite is.
