Basalt can generate inside / intersecting with Nether fortresses, replacing blocks of it.

Only marked as related to MC-171024 because basalt generation appears to be dynamic based on the available space so it is likely different than fossile generation.
This can also destroy blaze spawners. Use the seed 459310376708453442 and run the following command:
/execute in minecraft:the_nether run tp @p 1918 71 1438
They can also generate on any block. I found a basalt column generate on a lantern just recently.

@@unknown, maybe create a separate report for this. I guess the rules for what can be replaced would be different than the ones defining on top of which blocks basalt should generate.
