This snapshot, nether gold ore was changed to drop gold nuggets. However, it can still be smelted and blasted into a single gold ingot.

Yeah, it could, but diamond ore also normally drops diamonds, while nether gold ore doesn't drop either itself or ingots.
It still doesn't give as many ingots as could be obtained by crafting the maximum nugget drop from fortune, but it's slightly more reliable since even a max fortune pick tends to yield ~6. Makes it a much more interesting decision for which enchantment to use.
This is WAI. See slicedlime's video from 3 minutes: https://youtu.be/GowKC1iYz4c
Slicedlime's videos aren't official update videos and a feature being covered there doesn't confirm or de-confirm anything
Not wishing to start an argument but I wish to clear some details. First, I never stated that because it's in the snapshot that means it's WAI. Snapshots are full of bugs and this could be one (however that's unlikely in my opinion)
Secondly, I said above that the video shows the changes in the snapshot, however that wasn't me claiming that because it's shown there it's WAI. I was simply expanding upon my earlier comment with the link to the video.
Sorry for any confusion I caused with my above comment(s)
This is WAI, but that is completely separate from the point here. Emma is right that snapshot videos are not an official source and bugs should never be evaluated based on statements in them.
This could be intended as diamond ore for example can be smelted into diamond (if you mine it with a silk touch pickaxe)
