I throw an item into the cauldron and it stays inside just like before 1.4.3
What actually happened was...:

What "best Master" is saying is that the cauldrons are hollow in the center. The item will still go in it just has to be dropped into the right region of the cauldron. It will not go in if it hits the "rim" that is 1m tall anywhere else and it will fall in.
Possible side-effect of MC-15 being fixed.

The bug isnt related to a bad aim throwing items into a cauldron but rather the items will jump back out of the cauldron if you throw them into it
Same issue with the bottom step of any kind of stairs
These items "bounce" due to the fact that they are on the part of the cauldron that is 1 meter high if you want it to go in the cauldron then you must get the item toward the center more the same effect occurs on player entities.
