If I place an item in the 2x2 inventory crafting grid (At least on a server) then the items disappear and no longer exist and are unrecoverable. The Crafting Table's 3x3 grid is unaffected however

Unable to reproduce, please provide more detailed reproduction steps, and also give us more details about the server you are running - are you using any mods?

I am not running any mods and I am using a free ad-supported aternos server for personal use (friends, sister. etc.) I will upload a video to youtube and send the link when my editing software exports it because I needed to put 2 clips together.

I tried on two local worlds (one existing, one fresh) and one server running 20w21a. It seems that the item tries to go back to your inventory if possible instead of dropping. It just does not necessarily go back to its original slot, for example, when you put the entire slot onto the crafting grid or when you have another incomplete stack of the same item in your inventory.
