Piglins attack when I open my own shulker box or chest not in a bastion

I was trading with piglins and put down my enderchest and shulker boxes to hold the items I got from the piglins. After opening my own ender chest I was killed by piglins  even though I wasn't in a bastion and didn't open one of THEIR chests. This shouldn't happen when I open my own chests.

Works as intended, they become suspicious of you

Hi there!

This is a duplicate of MC-174836. This is an intentional feature, and you shouldn't expect it to be patched as a bug. You can suggest a change to this on the feedback website at https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us.

This is also a duplicate of MC-189485. Make sure to do a quick search for your bug before posting it, and if you find it, vote for it, comment on it, and follow it. This is the best way for it to be prioritized by Mojang. Making a duplicate post means more work for the volunteers who help out to moderate and clean things up for the developers to look at and fix what needs to be fixed.

This is ridiculous. Why would they be suspicious when I open my own chests? I'm wearing gold. If this stays in no more nether for me. It's useless anyway. Thank god I have a huge amount of nether without that new crap.

This is intentional, you should use hoppers, dispensers, or droppers to transport it into shulker boxes.

I have to use tons of iron to use my own boxes? Great game design!

I'm not spamming, you will just see, as it already has, that this is a "feature' that people were not ready for and were not informed of and now you're saying I have to use tons of iron and other materials just to open my own box in the nether. The bug reports will flood in as people discover this BUG. Also, the link you've provided takes me to an error page.

Hi there!

If you followed along with any of the snapshots/read the changelog for 1.16, you would see that this was an addition to the game: "Piglins are suspicious of strangers. If they see you opening a chest or other container, they will assume that you're stealing and will treat you accordingly". Because of the fact that this is in the official release changelog, it is not a bug.

It only takes 6 hoppers (30 iron, 6 chests) to empty the entire contents of a shulker box.

Also, I fixed the link to the feedback page - the period I put at the end of the sentence was added to the link, sorry about that.

I don't play updates before they are released. I get why they would do that in bastions with their chests. It makes sense. No where near a bastion using my chests or boxes, which they shouldn't even know about, they have no reason to be suspicious. So, a pigling wont attack me 6 blocks away while hoppering the stuff into another chest? I know that's not correct.

As it was said, this is a bug tracker, not a suggestion or discussion forum. The behaviour with chests and ender chests is fully intentional and make complete sense lore-wise, the shulker box part is considered a bug by Mojang.

Hi there!

According to MC-174836, this works as intended. Only moderators and developers can resolve reports, so this should be correct.

Like Galaxy_2Alex said, piglins are not very smart. If you're wearing gold, they don't mind you because they like gold. But when they catch you opening a container, they assume that you're stealing from them and come to attack you. A hopper to them is just like a normal block and they don't know if you are accessing your/their items.

Again, this is something for the feedback website, not the bug tracker: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us
