I am not sure if this is intentional or not but with the new feature of being able to put paths on coarse dirt, podzol, and mycelium, coarse dirt now permanently turns into regular dirt when pathed instead of turning back into coarse dirt when broken or having a block placed on top of it. This completely defeats the purpose of hoeing coarse dirt to make it into regular dirt, cause you can just use a shovel to path the coarse dirt and break it to get regular dirt. A bit redundant. And yeah, I know this is because dirt path is it's own block rather than a block state of dirt, but it's still a bit weird.

I am not saying I cannot turn coarse dirt into a dirt path. I am saying that pathing coarse dirt and then breaking it gives regular dirt instead of coarse dirt, which doesn't make much sense.
I do not think this is a bug. Since Dirt Paths fall under the category of blocks that give dirt when mined, it gives dirt instead of coarse dirt, even if that is what the path was made from. The reason for this is because the Dirt Path is its own block, not a block state.
I guess that makes sense. It'd be more logical to have to hoe the coarse dirt before you can put a path on it though.
Yah. I mean this is a really minor issue but it'd probably be best to not be able to path coarse dirt until you hoe it. Or else there's literally no point to hoe it, cause you can just path it and break it to get regular dirt. Kind of redundant.
All of this discussions can be fixed by a block tag called: "tilled:true/false" (if that's not a correct word, please give another ideas) for dirt paths.
True, if it was normal dirt. False, if it was coarsed dirt.
Then, if anyone breaks dirt paths, or they get transformed again into dirt by putting another block above, they should get a different type of dirt depending of the case.
I hope that this can be a solution to this dilema.
Alternatively make using a shovel on coarse dirt just turn it into regular dirt first like with a hoe.
@Connor Steppie, then that would just ruin the whole point of using the hoe to turn coarse dirt into regular dirt.
Cannot reproduce. Both Dirt and Coarse Dirt turn into Dirt Path.
