The Bug:
Some words within "/spreadplayers" command feedback messages are always pluralized.
This is an issue because when the value before the given noun is "1", the noun's plural form is used instead of its singular one, therefore making the string grammatically incorrect in some cases.

Relates to/Clones MC-106675.
Though, all command feedback is plural since 1.13, no matter how many results. So almost definitely WAI this time.
Can confirm in 21w40a. The expected behavior would be that when the "spreadplayers" command is used on one player, the word "players" within the success message would be displayed as "player".
Can confirm in 1.18.2 and 1.19 Pre-release 1. This can also be seen when teleporting a singular team to a given location. This issue is occurring because the source strings are hardcoded to always use the pluralized version of the words "player" and "team". The affected translation keys are as follows:
commands.spreadplayers.success.teams
commands.spreadplayers.success.entities

Can confirm in 1.19.2. This ticket relates to MC-255060. Also, would it be okay if I could take ownership of this report since the reporter has been deemed inactive for quite a substantial amount of time? I'll update this ticket mention the information I stated in my previous comment and will actively take care of it overall. 🙂
Can confirm.
