The game can randomly freeze

I noticed something like this as well, im walking around the world and then suddenly everything just freezes, i cant fit anything or when i break blocks, it just doesnt drop anything.

I also tried it on a Lan with my mate, and it did the same thing but it timed him out and made him disconnect, but for me he was still in the game but frozen.

Were you the host? If so, that would explain why it booted him off. It also seems to further solidify the fact it's a server hang or crash.

Everything works fine when I enter the world, but after a minute or two I am able to walk around and break blocks but the blocks don't drop anything. Also cannot interact with beds, chests, or work tables. When saving and exiting the world, the game gets stuck on the saving world screen. I have to close the game via Task Manager since nothing else works.

Nothing, in particular, triggered this. Restarted the game twice. Still the same issue.

UPDATE: Logged in to the game again and it froze right after waking up from the bed. Mobs froze and unresponsive.

For some reason, once I pick up a Big dripleaf, my game freezes, can't clear my inventory, toggle redstone, throw potions. Even mobs around me, water sources, changing gamemode and chunk loading doesn't work. Also inventory sounds stop working, commands, etc.

I was the host on the lan world, i then also tried just launching it in single player, but the same thing happened after a couple min. everything froze and like Alexandru said nothing was interactable.

Same problem. Had a horse freeze mid jump. Its legs kept kicking forever.

Ran into the same issue when fishing. Game entities would stop responding. Can move around, animations on carried items (pick, fishing pole, food, etc) would occur, but the interactions would do nothing. What's more is that if I close it the SP world it gets stuck on the "Saving World" screen and I have to kill the task. Optimizing world did not resolve. I can switch over to 1.16.5 and 21w03a and it works fine, so this problem is specific to 21w05a. [JE, Win10, 1.8.0_271]

EDIT: Also wanted to add that if I move to a new virgin chunk the JRTE crashes completely.

Same issue. Could not interact with objects such as chests, hoppers, dispensers, cauldron, bed etc. And could not spawn any enteties - including mobs (through egg or command), paintings/itemframes, minecarts and boats, armour stands.

• levers could not be switched (but gave off redstone sparks when clicked)

Interactable things that worked normally:

• Doors and gates

• repeaters and comparators

Other commands also stopped working (tested with /time set day)

When trying to place a bed, only half of the bed appeared. (tested on a new game, and this only happened during this glitch)

All happened after having tried to interact with some villagers.

The game froze upon trying to save & quit, and the savegame had rewinded to just before I entered the village. The saved world seemed slow.

I made a report that was marked as a duplicate of this one, so I'll copy-paste my initial report here.

Loaded up 21w05a for the first time, but I didn't get very far before my game became unplayable. After playing for a little while, all of a sudden I couldn't interact with crafting tables/furnaces, blocks could be placed and destroyed but wouldn't drop, mobs wouldn't move and couldn't be pushed or hurt, and I couldn't take damage.
I figured leaving and rejoining the world would sort things out, but when I try to exit, the game gets stuck at the "Saving world" screen. I needed to go to task manager in order to stop it, and when I did, I saw that Java was occupying nearly 2.5 GB of memory and 52% of my CPU. After reopening Minecraft and going back to the world, the problem is still there, and the same thing happens when I try to exit. The Minecraft launcher tells me there was a crash, "Exit Code 0", but there's no crash report file created.

I tried everything to capture the error, but the best I could get was a few screenshots and a 217kb debug log.

• Manual crashing:    Doesn't work; gets stuck on "Saving World".

• Debug profiling:     Doesn't work; debug profiling doesn't save until you do "/debug stop".

• Screenshots:           Works, however screenshots can only give so much information.

• Alt+F3:                  Works, however the server refuses to output anything after the lockup.

• Logs:                      Doesn't work; The server refuses to output anything after the lockup.

The lack of server output and strange occurrences are the only documentation I am able to give on the bug due to the inability to get any information beyond screenshots and logs.

Now the world is trashed.   I can't even open it up without it freezing.

I will attempt to create a world and see if it can occur.

I can confirm this. Step to reproduce

Create new world Seed: 8728481360832100266

Then to teleport yourself to this location
/execute in minecraft:overworld run tp @s -98.49 67.00 -21.60 253.95 -3.15

and everything is freeze up

Can confirm. things I noticed:

• Mobs freeze, even while falling/jumping, and cannot be interacted with, but will still block interactions. i.e. You can't mine through a mob.

• Mobs will still animate, generate particles, etc.

• Blocks will not drop, and breaking blocks will not update nearby ones. i.e. breaking the bottom of a tall grass block will not remove the top block.

• Dropped items cannot be picked up.

• Exiting the world will cause the game to freeze (CPU but no disk write) and fail to preserve any changes.

Can confirm its really buggy for making chunks very lag.

It should be fixed in far away of new snapshots.

Having the same issues (reported here MC-213944)

Leave it for a while though (several minutes) and it goes back to normal (for a while) including the ability to save again without freezing.
