Foxes won't harvest sweet berries when planted on farmland

With further testing, it looks like the same behavior is true with glow berries. Harvest normally on dirt, do not harvest on farmland.

I've had this same issue, just didn't realize it was due to the farmland. I did notice that the foxes can harvest the berries it's just very rarely that it happens.

I am unable to reproduce this issue in 1.17.1. Foxes seemed to harvest sweet berry bushes placed on farmland as they should, and no issue was apparent. See

With that being said, please could you provide some steps on how to go about reproducing this problem? Additionally, attaching some screenshots or videos of this behavior occurring whilst the F3 debug screen is enabled would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙂

Please provide a video with the debug screen enabled (hit the F3 key) demonstrating the issue.

I am also having this issue on a server where the fox powered berry farm was working perfectly through 1.16 snapshots, we skipped 1.17 snapshots, then it stopped working after updating to release 1.17 and is still broken in 1.17.1. Between the 4 foxes there used to be almost constant harvests and we have yet to see any since noticing the flow of berries stopped.

Video was over file size limit, edit button didn't let me re-upload. Cut it shorter and made it lower res but there really wasn't anything else to see than more of the same.

Cannot reproduce in 22w12a. Foxes do harvest sweet berry bushes planted on farmland.

Can replicate in 1.19; foxes will not harvest berries that are planted on farmland or mud. They will harvest the berries one time if dropped onto the berry bushes, but not beyond that. I made three berry farms side-by-side, one using mud, other farmland dirt, and the last grassy dirt. The foxes in the mud and farmland area would not continue to collect berries beyond the initial bush.

Not sure why this is closed as “cannot reproduce”. This is happening to me in Java 1.20 when the bushes are planted on mud.
