Parity issue: Light blocks do not display their light level when shown via a held light block item

The latest Bedrock Edition beta causes light blocks to visually display a number corresponding to their output light level when a light block is held in the player's hand. This aspect is absent in Java Edition, resulting in a parity inconsistency.

Worth noting is the fact that Bedrock Edition uses the item texture, despite Java Edition having a dedicated displayed texture separate from the item texture. Java Edition's fix may either end up removing this dedicated texture if the item textures are to be reused instead, or create 16 individual versions of the dedicated texture

Actually this was added in the beta before. Anyway it looks like this:

Of course bedrock is still using the old ugly light block textures, presumably that will be corrected at some point
