Textures slightly offset under wall blocks

The Bug

Hi! I have known about this for a while, and it unfortunately triggers my ocd. When you place a wall block (any type) by a full block, the texture under the wall is slightly offset, and it flashes.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Obtain a wall and block.

  • Place the wall next to the block, floating in the air so you can see the underside of the wall.

  • Fly right up against the underside of the wall and move your camera slightly back and forth.

  • Observe the edges of the pixels.

Observed Behavior

There is slight z-fighting due to the overlapping of the wall extension and the main body.

Expected Behavior

There would be no z-fighting. This could be achieved making the "extension" shorter, so it doesn't extend into the main body.

I am unable to reproduce this issue. Please could you provide some additional screenshots/videos of this behavior occurring whilst the F3 debug screen is enabled? Thanks 😃

You have to put a block by the wall to see the issue, when any type of wall is connected to a block it does this.

I appreciate the help by the way!

I can confirm in 1.17.1. I was also able to capture video attached.

Can confirm in 21w41a.

Since the model shape changes anyway, you could just re-extend them in those instances

Z-fighting is also on the top of the wall block too.

TBH, this should be Won't Fix for the same reason MC-246224 is.

Can confirm in 1.19.

Can confirm in 1.19.1.
