Structure Block no longer offers "Data" mode

Sometime between 1.16 and 1.18 the "Data" mode has been removed from structure blocks.   Was this done on purpose?  There are many modders that use this.  I don't know why it would be removed.

Looking at 1.18 code its still there in all ways except that it is specially hidden in the GUI.  Can this be restored?

ADMINS:   Can you guys please move or delete this bug?  I accidentally put it in the wrong version of Minecraft.  I am using the Java version, not Bedrock.  Thanks!!!

From the 20w46a changelog:

  • Default mode of structure blocks is now Load. Data is now hidden (but can be accessed by clicking mode button while holding alt key)

It can?  Ok cool.  I missed that.  Thanks.

Tested the new data mode, today.
So, this is not functionaly.

1. I loaded the data mode with holding alt-key + left-click.
2. Than I typed chests/igloo_chest for an test.

Result is null [chat output = Invalid structure name "]

1. not new.
2. only used internally, players cannot use it.
3. it uses a different field than structure name, hence the message. (Though it shouldn't print that on data mode, so that would be a valid report)

How to build reasonable dungeons and maps without the best option of structure blocks?

You're thinking of jigsaw blocks. Data structure blocks just replace themselves with something defines in game code (eg a vindicator), which can be achieves with other means too. Only Loot table seeds based on coordinates is not possible.
