When an end crystal is pushed onto the bedrock with a piston, granted there is already 3 other crystals placed, the dragon is not summoned.
Place 3 end crystals on the main end portal
place a 4th end crystal on obsidian one block away from the main end portal
break the obsidian to remove the fire
push the end crystal onto the bedrock so that it catches on fire
the dragon is not summoned because the game hasn’t realized a new end crystal has been put upon the bedrock

This also happens when placing the four crystals while the dragon is still alive and then defeating her.
The interesting thing is, when you place an end crystal on bedrock or obsidian anywhere in the end while the dragon is dead and four crystals are on the end fountain, the dragon respawns once a player gets close. This leads to a kind of limited and impractical method to make wireless redstone/detect if a player has placed an end crystal anywhere in the end.
Edit: The end fountain has to be chunk loaded for this.
I'm pretty sure this has been reported before, but I can't find the report.
