Any armor you are wearing will not be rendered in the first person view. The default armor textures do no cover any area that is visible in 1st-person, but a resource pack may provide textures that do. The arms will be rendered in 3rd-person, or on other players, but not on yourself in 1st-person view.

Attached a crash report. Not sure if intended, in inventory shirt isn't visible when wearing armor therefore shouldn't be visible in-game. Small visual bug anyways.
Ok, I just made an extremely simple resource pack to test this issue (made the sleeve area red on diamond_layer_1.png and diamond_layer_2.png), and can confirm that your own armor is not rendered in first-person. You don't even have to be punching. Just select the resource pack, put on some diamond armor, and don't have anything in your hand. You can see in my latest screenshot that the sleeves are red in the inventory, but the arm sticking up on the screen just shows my skin texture.

Is this still an issue in the most recent versions (currently that is 1.10.2, or 16w42a) of Minecraft? If so, please update the affected versions and help us keeping this ticket updated from time to time.
