The Drowned mob can spawn with a loyalty trident, but not be able to pick up the returning tridents. As a result, the drowned will eventually have a ton of tridents following it, which could theoretically build up enough to lag/crash the game.

Since MC-127321 is still an issue in 1.20.1, this is invalid due to mods being used. This directly contradicts thatreport, while that report is verified to be behavior in vanilla.
We do not have enough information to find the cause of this issue.
Please record a video of this happening and attach it to this report.

Drowned cannot currently utilize the enchantments on tridents as stated in MC-127321, therefore leading me to believe that your client or server you're playing on is modified. I attempted to reproduce this problem under complete vanilla circumstances whilst running 1.19.2 and saw that drowned did not utilize the enchantments on tridents (MC-127321) to begin with. Please could you provide a screenshot of this problem occurring whilst the F3 debug screen is enabled? This would assist in diagnosing the potential issue here; thanks!
