Villagers regularly don't close their doors

I have observed this in 1.19.63, but my villagers simply cannot interact with doors at all. They don't close doors behind them when they go to bed at night; they can't open the door to work in the morning if I have closed it for them. The issue is the same regardless of the type of wood door, and in both door positions (front and back of the block space).

I saw one villager go to bed by jumping through the wall of the structure, but most of them don't do that.

I can go around closing every door, they will be open when I go by at dusk

I've just found out it also affects version 1.19.4. One villager almost got killed by a skeleton when it left the door opened. Hope this don't happen in version 1.20. Every night i have to roam the village to check if they closed the door. This is annoying.

This issue started to stop happening in the 1.20 pre-release version.

Villagers are still not closing the doors after going through.

Seems like if the door is already open they wont touch it after passing through it.  If more than one villager goes through the door, the last one does not close it since they did not open it.

I also have this issue since at least 23w33a. Can confirm it's still happening in 1.20.2-rc2.

This bug is getting worse. I found a village where there are lots of villagers in and out of the house, but the doors and wide open. Is like the house got abandoned, but the village isn't.

It seems they dont close the door, if they are attracted to a Villager what is inside, if there is no villager inside and its to go to there workstation for something, when they do close it.

Confirmed in 1.20.4. Villagers leave doors open, which allows zombies to enter their house, even in Normal. Honestly as a whole, the villager AI needs to be severely overhauled. They are incredibly stupid.

Can confirm in 1.20.6, really disappointing, especially since they got some attention during the trade nerf in 1.20.1

And about the bug, I know, it's far from fixed. It's even annoying if you like to use the more old fashioned way of playing the game.

Villages are now doomed to be taken over by zombies since it's almost standard that villagers don't close the doors behind them. An obvious bug for the people who play the game but not for those who make big chances behind the scenes. Hope it doesn't stay a bug for 5-10 years.

Well guess this week isn't the right time to start closing doors again, it will be cold when winter comes... 😛

@unknown: Would you be comfortable with @unknown taking ownership of this report since you're not actively adding affected versions and keeping it up to date? @unknown is very invested in this report and is constantly requesting new affected versions, so I'd be in favor of transferring ownership if you agree.

Yes it would definitely be better for someone who is so in to this issue.
