Comparator recognises lava in a cauldron as water

According to the changelog https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/minecraft-snapshot-20w45a a comparator that reads a cauldron is supposed to send a unique redstone signal strength of 1 when lava is in the cauldron (apart from 1 level of water) to make it possible to distinguish it from 3 levels of water, allowing my redstone contraptions that require the player to put lava into a cauldron to work. However in the current version seems to be a bug where the comparator recognises it as 3 levels of water and sends a signal strength of 3 instead of 1 which breaks all of my redstone contraptions.

[[Mod] ampolive|https://bugs.mojang.com/secure/ViewProfile.jspa?name=ampolive] please read the very first comment in MC-204393. MC-204393 is working as intended and fixed by mistake. What I reported here is a bug and unintentional because it breaks my redstone contraptions. For more information see my reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/Mojira/comments/njv64j/close_mc204393_as_working_as_intended/.

The fixing was indeed contradictory to the changelog, but intended design changed (in this case, for parity), that does not mean the fix was a mistake/bug. An intentional change (parity fix, in this case) is not a bug because you made a contraption based on the old behavior.

But you cannot scam me like this by saying it is 1 in the changelog and implying that Java's behavior is correct and then you change it to behave like on the minecraft rip off. Signal strength 1 was correct as it made more sense. Unlike water and powder snow you don't have multiple levels for the amount of lava in the cauldron. That's why it is supposed to be 1.

For change requests (that's what this is, not a bug), go to feedback.minecraft.net.

As I stated, the mechanics of the game may change between updates. You linked the 20w45a changelogs, and this was changed later, in 21w20a, with the fix of MC-204393. As of 21w20a, this is working as intended.

No, MC-204393 is working as intended as mentioned in the comments. For more information see my reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/Mojira/comments/njv64j/close_mc204393_as_working_as_intended/.

The intended design changed, it's that simple.

Move on, or go to the feedback site. You're just creating clutter on this site now.

But then the intended design changed by mistake and should be reverted because you shouldn't scam me like this by telling me that I can distinguish lava from water with a comparator. It should have been changed on the minecraft rip off and not on java.

Intended design only changes intentionally, not by accident.

Again: feedback.minecraft.net
Stop whining about it here, as it does not belong here.
