Placing a solid block near TNT and above redstone torch won't update the TNT

If you place a redstone torch, a block to the side of it, a TNT above the block, and then a block above the redstone torch, the TNT won't update.
And YES, this could be used for PVP traps.

I don't want this to be fixed, I just want more people exploiting it!

Hmm... this is weird. Not sure if this was present in previous versions as well.

I took the screenshot in MC 1.2.5, but I did test it in MC 1.4.2

Well, confirmed, but if you didn't want this to be fixed I don't know why you'd put it on the bugtracker.

migrated

Because it's useful for PVP traps, and nobody knows about it.

Wouldn't that be better suited for the official forums than this bug tracker? Also, this seems to be in the same spirit as the Block Update Detectors and is likely to be left in intentionally.

Eh, true...

This is different from BUDs. BUDs activate with any block update, this one needs a redstone update. The dispenser turret uses this same bug to rapid fire dispenser 10 times a second by redstone updating the powered dispenser with a 1-tick clock.

Confirmed in 1.4.5.

in the new snapshot 13w04a tnt won't explode when a redstone torch is placed by it. I tried multiple variations of this and found that if the tnt is surrounded by blocks on four sides so that you see two at one angle, if you place a redstone torch by it it will not explode. Not sure if its just me or what but it happend four times in a row.

... Why do people want this fixed?

This bug is completely unrelated to MC-8184, this bug is about block updates not causing redstone updates, the other bug is about redstone updates not updating dispensers/note blocks/TNT.
