The mace can have the sharpness enchantment added to it with an anvil, even though the minecraft wiki says it was never added.

On Creative mode, any enchantment can be added to any item.
I cannot reproduce this in Survival mode, are you playing in Creative? If so, this is a duplicate of MC-95555, which is working as intended.
