When using Wind Burst 2 or Wind Burst 3 on a sword, there is a chance of getting sent over a thousand blocks into the air when chaining attacks on a group of mobs. The swords sweeping attack will hit multiple mobs at once, triggering a Wind Burst launch for each mob. It's very inconsistent but eventually you'll get launched extremely high up.
Please note a few things, the wind burst enchantment is working as intended with the mace, I have not had any problems using it. I have not been able to replicate this with any other weapon than the sword. I've only gotten this to work with wind burst 2 and 3, not 1.

By carefully watching the attached video, you can see this bug may be caused by the sword's sweep attack. the sweep attack damages multiple mobs, which causes wind burst to trigger multiple times
@unknown Yes, that seems likely. However, I still don't know why my player stopped flying from the burst and hit a 'wall' (only in Survival), and took some damage (and can die with the message: <player> fell from a high place).

After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.
Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.

I can indeed confirm, and that scared me as well 😃
I got launched around 2000 blocks into the air. Note this took me around six tries.
Edit: Trying this in Survival made me hit some sort of 'wall' at around 500 blocks up, which made me take ~4-5 hearts of damage and fall back to the ground.
