Torches don't light the block that they are attached to when there is a block on top and at the sides of them

I didn't test this in 1.4.4 but in 1.4.2, if you place a torch at the side of a block, cover all of its sides and the top of it(don't place a block under the torch so that you can observe but I'm pretty sure that this problem even exists if you do) like in the pictures, you will see that the block that is occupied by the torch will be darker then the bottom of the torch. It is a lighting bug.

Will be fixed when the new lighting engine is finished

LordAro is right.
When the lightning engine will be fix, you won't have that anymore.

This is caused by the same underlaying issue as MC-92 and MC-2399. See my comments there.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Nope it is fixed. Please update it 🙂

Resolved, thanks for the update.

Oh they only fixed this bug for torches... Now it happens with signs too. Screenshot added.
