How to reproduce
If you are in singleplayer, set up a command block with a
setblock
command and a redstone timer (with redstone repeaters on maximum delay) that will place a block on top of your chest while you have it open.If you are in multiplayer, get someone to place a block on top of the chest while you have it open.
-> ❌ The chest will not close like it does when destroyed.

do you mean the chest automatically kicks you out when the block lands on it?
Confirmed. Can also be tested with a trapped chest connected to a piston that covers the chest.
This relates to the issue where chests stay open after you travel to another dimension.
I hope the planned fix for this in 1.9 only affects chests with the space above them blocked, rather than one that's had it's line of sight blocked. My fridges will stop working otherwise. I open the door with a wooden button and have 1.5 seconds to click on the chest before the door closes. So long as I click the chest it's gui stays open even after the door closes.

Is this still an issue in the most recent versions (i.e. 1.10.2, or 16w42a) of Minecraft?
