Random geometry is rendered on some Intel integrated graphics

computer specs attached below (I always use normal FOV)

I opened my 1.21.4 world in 1.21.5, and I opened the world on 50 fps, 16 render dist. and 6 sim. dist. There was light lag, which always happens when I open a world and it has to render a bunch of chunks. After breaking 16 tall bamboo stalks at my base with an iron sword and trying to collect them (the game was still trying to render chunks on the edge of my render dist.) it started lagging heavily. I opened my inventory while the bamboo was falling, and the game visually froze (I forgot to try to take a screenshot of it), but I was definitely still able to interact with the world and my inventory (I tested this by using my axe, pause menu, and the recipe book shortcut in my inventory with space and tab (sounds indicated this)). I windowed the game to a small size, and the frozen screen did not resize, but got cut off, leaving my inventory crafting grid and skin visible but the game resized as normal (just not visually) and still worked, as evidenced by a 53-stack of bamboo not being in the place it was when the game froze (I had successfully tried to move it when the game was frozen). I saved and quit the world and closed that instance of Minecraft. I reopened it, changed my sim dist. to 5 (which I normally use) and 40 fps (i normally use 50 fps on 1.21.4 with sodium and lithium) and reopened the world. The following screenshots with triangular visual errors were taken at this point, and they also seem to flicker occasionally in the inventory when opening the recipe book, hovering over an item, and clicking fast in some way, but I don’t know how to reproduce it. I then closed the game again after save quitting, opened the bug tracker, began to make this report, and opened the game again to take a screenshot of my specs, which is the screenshot in f5 mode facing the bamboo. This triangle rendering issue keeps happening randomly every 5 min or so in game.

these issues seem to occur when my computer fan is running more and/or many chunks are loading and/or a lot of items are falling and/or I open my inventory.

maybe a ram allocation issue? idk

I just tried allocating an extra 1 GB to my minecraft in the launcher, and now it works fine. IDK what’s up with this though. Originally 2 GB (now 3) allocated out of 16 GB on a somewhat old windows pc.

edit: it still happens, just much less often and much less egregiously and not right on startup

I am having a similar issue on a server; initially tps is fine, but after a while (often seemingly triggered by a moderately large number of item entities being created) it starts lagging horrendously. mspt oscillates between <50 and around 1000. This only started after updating to 1.21.5. The only way I can find to fix it is to restart the server.

Update: it is now impossible to connect to the server at all.

THANK GOD I’m not the only one experiencing this, I was worried it was a scam due with my computer/game, instead of just a general update issue

@Noah S Please report the server-side issue as a separate bug. In this one we will only track the rendering.

I don't think I was clear in my replies: rendering of the world and freezing was no longer an issue after increasing ram, but text colors progressively messing up as seen in the other report still happens and can be temporarily fixed with F3 + T, but it comes back faster each time I press F3 + T

all these issues are present in my Minecraft client, including the freezing and text colors messing up

another thing which has not yet been mentioned that, having the same issue as the text colors, beacon beams also get progressively worse, F3+T also solves this temporarily

lecterns also show the same issue

@NatteKaaz We are tracking the issues that you are experiencing in MC-296908 and MC-296107, respectively. I have transferred your screenshots where appropriate. You are welcome to take a look at the comments sections of those tickets and provide any missing information to them.

Hi! Is this still present in 1.21.8 Release Candidate 1 or newer?
We were not able to reproduce this issue specifically ourselves, but fixed some related issues on Intel graphics cards in this Release Candidate which we believe could be related. 🙂
Thanks!
