When flying in creative, pressing the sprint button will have the change in FOV but have no noticeable speed increase. Truthfully, I would like to have the ability to fly faster, but this has no speed increase. The effects are just like on the ground. I hope this gets fixed!

Confirmed for 1.7.2. This can be tested by flying close to the ground on a superflat map, and breaking/placing blocks at 1 second intervals whilst flying normally and whilst "sprint" flying.
Also, it appears you can also achieve this by sprinting whilst not flying (both methods of sprinting work), then double jumping whilst still sprinting.
I have been able to "fly faster" for years and fully expect it continue to work this way. Double tap seems broken in 14w30c
