The dry_foliage.png colormap texture is split into two halves, one on the bottom left and the other on the top right, Only the bottom left half appears to actually be used, however.
Either the top right half should be used in some context, or deleted from the file altogether. I’ve attached a fixed version to this ticket with the unused half removed; Mojang have my full permission to replace the existing colormap texture with this to make things less confusing for resource pack creators and reduce the overall file size of the game’s assets.

@BugTracker There are no steps to reproduce in the report so I’ve set the report to Plausible for Mojang to review. How did you go about confirming it?

@Jingy Basically, the top right half of dry foliage.png is unused and should be either removed or filled with transparency as the reporter has already shown.
Top-Right | Slightly darker brown shades | Unused |
Bottom-Left | More gradient-like, lighter brown tones | Used |

Doesn’t this duplicate MC-276842?
@BugTracker I understand what is described already in the report, the question is how to verify and confirm that the colors are not being used.
@J Z I had seen that report and initially I thought no, but on second review I would agree that it is the same.
Can confirm.
