Fire appears if you are hitten by a flammable entity .

If you have a fire resistance potion and you are hitten by a fireball, a flaming arrow, or a flaming entitie; the fire texture will appear like you wouldn’t have the potion. Even it renders in third person. It’s very annoying and the potion supposed to disappear.

Hey, so I was looking on the Minecraft Wiki, and it shows an image of a person using Fire resistance, and in a flammable source like lava: https://minecraft.wiki/w/Fire_Resistance#/media/File:Under_lava_fire_resistance.png , and it seems to show the flame texture regardless if you have the position or not. I know that some people get really annoyed by the fire texture, but most of them end up using custom texture packs that resize the flame that appears. I think all the potion does for Minecraft Java is negate the damage from fire, and does not remove the flame, because you are technically still on fire, but you just aren't taking damage.

Yeah this is intended, the effect doesn’t make the player immune to the state of being on fire but rather prevents them from taking damage from said fire (and blaze fireballs). If the effect wears off while the player is still on fire then they will take damage from the fire until it wears off or is extinguished.
