The Bug:
Before 25w16a, Happy Ghast sounds could be heard from a longer distance than most mobs, similar to a normal Ghast, which reflected their size.
However, due to a fix for MC-296376, this is no longer the case.
This bug showed how Ghastlings still had the same volume distance as Happy Ghasts and Ghastlings. It was odd because they were so tiny..
After its fix however, adult Happy Ghasts now also have a very short audio range, which makes them seem like very quiet mobs.
I can only assume this was a mistake, as one, a long distance makes sense for their large size, is consistent with normal Ghasts, and the bug report in question was specific to Ghastlings and no mention of altering the Happy Ghast’s sounds was in the changelog.
Could potentially have been created by the adult Happy Ghast sounds and the baby Ghastling sound’s being grouped.
To reproduce
1. Load up 25w15a and listen to the Happy Ghast. It can be heard from far off, as expected, but so can the Ghastling, which was a bug, which then got fixed
2. Load up a version again after this fix. Ghastling’s audio makes more sense, but now Happy Ghasts seem very quiet when flying around idley.
Attached is a video showcasing how odd it seems that their audio is only heard from such a short distance. I would provide footage from before 25w16a as well, but for some reason that version isn’t showing up on my launcher
Can confirm.
