Portal travel sound plays later than before as of 1.3.1

In version 1.2.5 (more specifically snapshot 12w17a), the portal travel sound played while the dimension was loading. However, when the sound was accidentally removed in snapshot 12w18a and reimplemented in version 1.9, the portal travel sound now plays after the dimension is fully loaded, rather than playing as the dimension is loading as it did before.

To Reproduce: Enter a Nether or End portal

Expected Result: The portal travel sound plays as the dimension is loading

Actual Result: The portal travel sound plays after the dimension fully loads and I can walk around.

Could you let us know if you have any modifications installed in your world or if your using any resource packs?

Could you also let us know if this issue occurs every time you pass through the portal?

I can confirm. What op didn’t mention is that going through the Nether for the very first time in a world does play the portal travel sound while the dimension loads. However, every other time after that, the portal travel sound does not play until the dimension is fully loaded.

After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.

Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.
