Spear charge attacks do not continue to do damage against a single target

The latest pre-release stated that it changed it so that charge attacks can continue to do damage against a single target (removing the 10 tick delay that it previously had). However, the charge attack only continues to do knockback, only the first hit actually does damage, despite the changelog claiming that charge attacks are supposed to continue to do damage.

Note that I personally don’t believe that charge attacks should be able to connect multiple times (revert to behavior before pre1), as them not doing that encouraged players to alternate between jabs and charges which was more interesting than just using charge attacks exclusively.

I’ve noticed this too. On the topic of reverting the change, the problem with jab attacks is that they’re very weak and slow compared to swords. If they were to change it back, the stronger spears would once again be clunky when having to jab with them, due to speed decreases for higher tiers.

Hi, this bug will be closed as Works As Intended. But to clear up some confusion and expand on the original changelog entry, we want to clarify how this is supposed to work:

  • While moving towards a target you now keep dealing damage, with a 10 ticks cooldown after the first hit and for each consecutive one, without the need of looking away from the target.

  • The knockdown being applied to the target may influence the ability of the spear to deal damage depending on the player's speed. This is because as the target moves away from the player, the relative speed between the player and the target decreases
