Parity: Undead mounts do not prevent the player from sleeping

Zombie horses, skeleton horses, zombie nautiluses and camel husks do not prevent the player from sleeping in Java Edition, this is inconsistent with all other monsters and with Bedrock Edition.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  • Build a bed, spawn one of the above mentioned mobs, click to sleep

Expected result:

  • The player should not be able to sleep if they are untamed, with the message “You may not rest now, there are monsters nearby“

Actual result:

  • Nothing happens, unlike in Bedrock Edition.

They are just passive animals

They are monsters nonetheless, “You may not rest now, there are monsters nearby“ does not specify “there are hostile mobs nearby“

Coded as “creatures” WAI

Undead mounts (besides skeleton horses) share a lot of mechanics with hostile mobs, they don’t spawn on peaceful, they occupy the hostile mob cap, parrots can imitate them and so on. Other features should reflect that, especially considering they already prevent the player from sleeping in BE.

Undead mounts all use the same AI as their non-undead counterparts but are controlled by jockey’s naturally: similar to chickens. They can all spawn and remain within the world in peaceful mode however do not spawn naturally without a jockey. Parrots can also imitate the happy ghast.

Parrots apparently don’t actually have a sound for imitating happy ghasts, so its basically an unused mechanic.

My point still stands that they share a lot of mechanics similar to hostile mobs, they even count towards the Monsters Hunted advancement. Sharing AI with their living versions is not really relevant to my point, im not arguing that they are hostile or something, but that since they are monsters they logically should share all mechanics related to monsters, not just some.

Why was this changed as fixed if nothing changed in Java, nor in Bedrock?
