Lunge is unreliable when used while crouching/walking/sprinting on/through blocks that affect the player's movement speed

If a player moves back and forth between cobwebs while lunging, it doesn't thrust the player forwards sometimes.

Steps to Reproduce:  

  1. Create a superflat world

  2. Give self any Spear with Lunge III

  3. Make a straight line of ~5 Cobweb blocks

  4. Crouch/Walk/Sprint straight through the Cobweb blocks while spamming left click with the enchanted Spear in your mainhand

Observed Results:  

Player walks through Cobweb blocks without Lunging forwards, working almost never + subtitles display that the player has lunged.

Expected Results:  

Player should Lunge forwards while moving, Lunging the same distance as they do when standing still in Cobweb blocks.

Not sure how to add the video to the post, but I’ve edited it and here is the demonstration. The first Lunge with the Wooden Spear and Stone Spear are with no movement input, every other Lunge I’m holding down the walk button. Crouching/Sprinting have the same effect and being in Survival Mode also makes no difference.

I’m also encountering the same issue. Before 1.21.11-pre1, the player cannot be lunged at all in survival mode due to MC-303052, but even after that fix I still notice that sometimes the lunge enchantment is ineffective.

This bug can be reliably reproduced whenever the player is in any motion - even if only turning their head.
Any block that can "stuck" the player appears to trigger it, including cobwebs, sweet berry bushes, and powder snow blocks.
