Horses buffer jump inputs while in water

When trying to jump with a horse that is swimming, the jumping animation plays and the horse doesn’t jump. But when reaching land, when the horse would normally stand, it jumps. This jump happens without input.

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Mount a horse

  2. Walk into Water

  3. Jump

  4. Walk onto land

Can confirm in 26.1 Snapshot 1.

This behavior is different when compared to 1.21.10 and is highly unfit, and clearly not intended. Imagine trying to jump with a horse in the middle of a river then when reaching the end of the river the horse all of a sudden jumps without any user input and also without a jump animation. This is clearly on multiple levels not working as intended.

Version: 26.3
Issue:
When riding a horse in Minecraft, attempting to jump while the horse is airborne or floating in water can cause the jump input to be stored indefinitely.

Once the horse lands on solid ground or moves out of the water onto solid blocks, it automatically jumps, even if the player pressed the jump button 20 seconds or more beforehand.

Suggested Fix:
Introduce a short expiration timer for horse jump inputs. If the horse cannot jump when the player presses the jump button, the input should expire after a maximum of a few seconds rather than remaining active indefinitely.

Expected Behaviour:
Horse jump inputs should only remain active briefly. If the horse becomes able to jump after the input has expired, it should not automatically jump unless the player presses the jump button again.

Current Behaviour:
The horse can unexpectedly jump long after the player originally attempted to jump, resulting in unintended movement.
