The banner pattern “chevron” is incorrectly named that, because “pile” is the more accurate term
The same happens for the “inverted chevron” pattern as well

“A chevron is not to be confused with a triangle, wedge, or pile, which are solid shapes rather than angled stripes.” -Wikipedia on “Chevron”

What do you think about MC-274754?
@tryashtar you mean like, if I mean this as a suggestion? no, I don't mean it as a suggestion, but rather “chevron” by itself being an inaccurate name for it
If you mean like, what do I think about the name, well, I've done some digging, and it’s uhh
It's kinda complicated, because some sources list the appropriate term as being “party per chevron”, wikipedia as I listed lists it as “pile”. I must say “party per chevron” also sounds better than “pile”, probably because I'm already used to the Minecraft one being called just “chevron”
I think reading random conflicting names on wikipedia doesn't warrant sufficient evidence to justify a bug report
